New MD for Siemon
A double promotion at global network cabling specialists Siemon has seen Steven Foster become managing director in EMEA, while Graeme Stoker moves into Foster's former role as marketing manager.
Steven Foster
Foster moves up after incumbent MD Keith Astin took up a new global business development role to further strengthen Siemon's penetration around the world.
Astin says: "We are very fortunate to have a wealth of great talent in our company but Steve was a natural choice for this key role because of his great understanding of our industry, the issues that it is facing and the resulting opportunities for Siemon. Add to this his strategic vision, his commitment and his energy for driving the business forward, and I am confident he will successfully lead our company, enabling us to build on our current substantial growth rates throughout EMEA."
Foster has been marketing manger at Siemon since he joined the company three years ago. Previous to this he spent two years in product marketing at AMP Tyco, followed by six years as marketing manager at Greenwoods Communications.
He explains: "This is an exciting time to take the helm at Siemon. Even though the market is challenging, we have managed to maintain a rate of growth that's greater than that experienced by the market as a whole.
"We've achieved this by maintaining a strategy of continued investment in the business. This has helped us to develop new products and stay at the forefront of technological developments but, just as importantly, it has made Siemon an attractive place to work, and that means we've continued to recruit and retain staff of the highest calibre."
A marketing specialist, Foster completed his MBA at the Henley Management School last year. His studies culminated in a thesis on segmentation in the UK structured cabling market and an analysis of the cabling needs of customers across the UK. He also has a Masters in Marketing, a Diploma in Marketing and a Business Degree.
And Foster believes this marketing background is perfect preparation for his new role. "Many people think of marketing as 'marcoms' but my experience is in marketing as business strategy. My skills are in seeing the bigger picture, understanding the market and what is happening in it, and, most importantly, understanding what customers want and will want."
Graeme Stoker
Graeme Stoker joined Siemon from a marketing strategic design consultancy seven years ago. He began as a customer service representative before becoming the UK channel sales specialist. Graeme has a Higher National Diploma in Business and Marketing and Business Degree.
His new role will see him take over responsibility for EMEA product management, marketing communications, channel marketing programmes and customer services.
Stoker says: "I'm keen to use my understanding of the channel and customers as the foundation to drive the business even further forward throughout EMEA.
"We will also be concentrating our efforts on getting our significant key differentiators in front of the right audiences. An important part of this will be strengthening the material and evidence our sales teams have to position all our product sets, in particular the widely used category 6A system and top performing category 7 TERA® solution."
